My pick for 2009 Playmate of the Year

As we all know, Playboy pictorial texts are not always reliable sources. If you recognize the allusion to a Monty Python sketch in the alleged conversation with Sophie Howard of the September 2008 “Page 3 Girls” pictorial, you can guess that it didn’t really happen. The official Playboy Blog has “confessed” this for the benefit of the culturally deprived.

But today, I’m counting on the quotations from the Playmates for the January 2009 “Playmate Review” to be reasonably truthful. I’m gambling my credibility as an amateur journalist on it. I hope Miss June 2008, Juliette Fretté, actually said this:
I am always surprised by the wild cards that are unceremoniously tossed onto my earthly plate from the scheming universe. Recently I have become delightfully frustrated with the knowledge that I want to do everything under the sun. I would not presume that anyone should vote for me, but I would say, “Vote your pleasure.” We are all worthy women with unique attributes.
She makes me smile involuntarily with her mixed metaphor—cards aren’t food, so why toss them on a plate?—but my pleasure is surely to vote for her. Fretté is not the first Playmate to write her own biographical article, but she has to be the first to name “being a pussy” among her turnoffs. In the spirit of her own words, I applaud her willingness to go balls out with wordplay. Smart is sexy. What more can I ask for in a Playmate of the Year than a beautiful, naked body and a beautiful, naked mind?
